DHCS to Recalculate 2017-18 Hospital Fee Directed Payments

The Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) announced this week that, due to a system process error, it will be forced to recalculate the entire state fiscal year (FY) 2017-18 Private Hospital Directed Payment Program (PHDP) program payments.

VA to Reconsider Payments to Providers for Some Denied Claims

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and its third-party administrators, Optum and TriWest, will reconsider payments to providers whose claims were denied because of simple routing errors, including claims that were submitted to the wrong VA payer (VA or a TPA).  

Hospital Fee Program 9 (2024)

With each Hospital Fee Program renewal, DHCS retrieves the requisite hospital data and updates the fee and payment model as directed under the authorizing legislation found under state law (specifically, the Medi-Cal Hospital Reimbursement Improvement Act of 2013 codified at Welfare and Institutions Code sections 14169.50 through 14169.76).

Volunteers Needed for Quality Improvement Project on Medication Profiles for High-Risk Patients

Under Senate Bill 1254 (Chapter 697, Statutes of 2018), hospitals must establish criteria for high-risk patients and complete a medication profile for those patients. To better understand how this new requirement will impact patient safety, CHA and California Health System Pharmacists members will undertake a six-week, multi-center quality improvement project.
