38 Members of CA Congressional Delegation Sign 340B Letter

Last week, 216 members of the House of Representatives — including 38 members from the California delegation — signed a bipartisan letter asking U.S. Department of Health & Human Services Secretary Alex Azar to protect the 340B program discounts.

CHA has issued a detailed summary, prepared by Health Policy Alternatives, of the final rule issued by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) — along with the Departments of Labor and Treasury — that establishes several new price transparency requirements for non-grandfathered group health plans (those not in existence prior to passage of the Affordable Care Act) and health insurers offering non-grandfathered health plans in the individual and group markets.

The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) has issued All Facilities Letter (AFL) 20-85, which informs skilled-nursing facilities (SNFs) of the requirement that they have a full-time dedicated infection preventionist, a plan for infection prevention control, and annual training for all health care personnel, as provided in Assembly Bill (AB) 2644.   

CEO Message: Fate of ACA in the Hands of the High Court

On Tuesday, the U.S. Supreme Court heard oral arguments in California v. Texas, a case that has the potential to strike down parts, or all, of the Affordable Care Act (ACA).  

It’s encouraging that several key justices signaled they would vote to reject the latest challenge, as upending the ACA would devastate Californians who rely on coverage provided under the law’s umbrella. Among the biggest impacts if the law is negated:

Senate Bill 1237, which the Governor signed into law on Sept. 18, will expand the scope of practice for nurse-midwives in California.
