The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has issued final guidance on hospital co-location with other hospitals or health care facilities.

The guidance — which is revised from earlier 2019 draft guidance — clarifies how CMS and state surveyors will evaluate space-sharing or contracted staff and service arrangements for compliance with the Medicare Conditions of Participation. CHA is reviewing the draft guidance and will provide members with additional details in the coming weeks.
