[embed]Gov. Gavin Newsom signed three bills this session that amend the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 (CCPA), slated to take effect Jan. 1. The CCPA gives consumers the right to know what information about them a business holds, to restrict a business from sharing their information, and to have a business delete information about them, and assures other privacy rights.

I became a mother for the first time in January 1999. I often call the months that followed the most wonderful, awful time of my life. It was emotionally and physically overwhelming. The love I felt for my baby was unsurpassed, but equally strong were the feelings of sadness and isolation. I struggled to breastfeed to the point that my nipples actually bled. Everything was so hard, breastfeeding, lack of sleep, communication and connecting with my husband, saying goodbye to life as I knew it.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is accepting requests from inpatient rehabilitation facilities (IRFs) to settle appeals that were filed for redetermination with their Medicare administrative contractor (MAC) no later than Aug. 31, 2018 — if the appeal is currently pending or eligible for further appeal at the MAC, quality improvement contractor, Office of Medicare Hearings and Appeals, and/or Medicare Appeals Council review level.
