On Aug. 25, the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) officially updated the timeline for the retention payment program to clarify that an employee must be employed on Nov. 28 to qualify for the retention payment (date of record). DHCS also provided FAQs and a glossary of terms.
Unfortunately, the announcement did not include additional guidance. At this time, DHCS does not have a target date by which the guidance will be available. While DHCS develops guidance, CHA has published provisional FAQs to summarize the retention payment legislation. When DHCS issues guidance, the FAQs will be updated to reflect the guidance and additional information.
