For CEOs, CFOs, government relations executives, compliance officers

President Biden has extended the national emergency declaration for the COVID-19 pandemic beyond March 1, when it was set to expire.

The notice does not indicate an end date for the emergency declaration. The national emergency designation allows the government certain powers, freeing it from some legal bureaucracies and allowing it to spend additional funds.

The national emergency declaration differs from the COVID-19 public health emergency declaration, which is currently in place through April 16. It ensures flexibilities like waivers and special rules tied to the declaration remain in place for providers.
