The Department of Health & Human Services has renewed the COVID-19 public health emergency (PHE) declaration for an additional 90 days, effective Jan. 16.

The 90-day renewal puts the PHE in place through April 16 and ensures flexibilities like waivers and special rules tied to the declaration remain in place for providers. The Biden administration has committed to providing states with a 60-day notice before ending the PHE.
