Two sessions have been added to CHA’s virtual Disaster Planning Conference. On Sept. 15 from 8 to 8:30 a.m., Beta Healthcare Group’s Care for the Caregivers session features vital information for providing “psychological first aid” for health care workers. Content in this program will benefit anyone who works in/around a hospital/health care environment ― not just clinical workers.
Shared by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), this tool addresses the special medical needs of children, and emphasizes how health care facilities must be prepared for both pediatric and adult victims of bio-terrorism attacks, including those resulting from dispersal of airborne or food borne agents.
Hospitals are required to conduct and review their Hazard Vulnerability Analysis (HVA) annually. The HVA is a systematic approach to identifying hazards that may affect demand for the hospitals services or its ability to provide those services. The risks associated with each hazard are analyzed to prioritize planning, mitigation, response and recovery activities. The HVA serves as a needs assessment for the Emergency Management program. This process should involve community partners and be communicated to community emergency response agencies.
These business continuity plan (BCP) templates and instruction manuals are provided by the Los Angeles County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Agency to assist health care facilities develop their business continuity plans and meet the Hospital Preparedness Program’s Health Care Preparedness Capability.
