AB 1898 (Shultz, D-Burbank)

AB 1898 would require an employer to provide a written notice to an employee that a workplace artificial intelligence tool was used to assist the employer in making employment-related decisions or to surveil the workplace.  

SB 903 (Padilla, D-San Deigo)

SB 903 would prohibit licensed professionals from using artificial intelligence (AI) in therapy sessions unless the patient consents. It also bans advertising or offering therapy services through AI unless they are conducted by a licensed professional. Furthermore, the bill prohibits AI from making independent therapeutic decisions in client communications.   

AB 2256 (Chen, R-Brea)

AB 2256 would define and protect the title “radiologist assistant,” establish qualification requirements, and clarify the supervised scope of practice for radiologist assistants without creating a new state licensure category. 

SB 1257 (Arreguín, D-Oakland)

SB 1257 would require the California attorney general (AG) to publish an annual report on immigration enforcement incidents at certain “safe locations,” including health care providers, and share the report with the Legislature and governor. The bill would also allow the AG to impose civil penalties or take other enforcement actions to ensure compliance by these locations.

AB 2729 (Bonta, D-Alameda)

AB 2729 states legislative intent to enact legislation that would require employers who employ individuals enrolled in Medi-Cal to pay a penalty as a contribution to a Medi-Cal fund.

AB 1922 (Lowenthal, D-Long Beach)

AB 1922 would prohibit the use of mechanical restraints by state correctional or juvenile facility staff on incarcerated patients while receiving care at a hospital. If there is an immediate physical threat, the hospital may initiate their medical restraint process. The bill also includes additional documentation requirements.
