CMS Approves Medi-Cal Managed Care Rates for Jan. 1-Dec. 31, 2021
On Sept. 11, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) approved the Medi-Cal managed care rates for Jan. 1-Dec. 31, 2021. Subsequently, on Sept. 14, CMS approved the revised rate packages for Jan. 1-Dec. 31, 2021.
CHA Issues Summary of FFY 2024 IPPS Final Rule
CHA has issued a summary of the federal fiscal year (FFY) 2024 inpatient prospective payment system (IPPS) final rule. The policy and payment provisions in the final rule will be effective for FFY 2024 discharges, beginning Oct. 1.
Independent Dispute Resolution Process Updated
The departments of Health and Human Services, Labor, and the Treasury (the departments) have updated guidance regarding the No Surprises Act independent dispute resolution (IDR) process. The departments have directed certified IDR entities to resume processing all single and bundled disputes submitted on or before Aug. 3, 2023.
Federal Government Shutdown Anticipated
Congress must act to continue funding for the federal government and avoid a shutdown before the end of the federal fiscal year on Sept. 30. However, given the limited progress in drafting appropriations legislation and resistance to passing a continuing resolution by some members of Congress, the likelihood of a federal government shutdown is growing. It is anticipated that when a continuing resolution is passed, it will be short-term.
CMS Announces Reduced Coinsurance Amounts for Part B Drugs, Medicare to Pay Difference to Providers
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced that Medicare will reduce the beneficiary coinsurance amount for 34 Part B prescription drugs between $1 and $618 per average dose from Oct. 1-Dec. 31, 2023.
