CHA DataSuite Releases Transforming Episode Accountability Model Summary Analysis
What’s happening: CHA DataSuite, in partnership with DataGen, has released a hospital-specific summary analysis for the Transforming Episode Accountability Model (TEAM).
What else to know: CHA is distributing reports to members who have been selected for mandatory participation in TEAM.
California Board of Pharmacy Licenses Will Only Be Processed Online, Effective Jan. 1
What’s happening: Starting Jan. 1, 2025, California State Board of Pharmacy licenses eligible for renewal will be processed solely online.
What else to know: The Board of Pharmacy will no longer mail a paper renewal application for the following licensees: pharmacist, advance practice pharmacist, pharmacy technician, and other designated representatives.
Transition on OHCA Board as Hospital Spending and Measurement Workgroup Wraps for the Year
What’s happening: Mark Ghaly, MD, MPH, has resigned as secretary of the California Health and Human Services Agency (CalHHS). His seat on the OHCA board will transition to the newly appointed secretary, Kim Johnson, or her designee.
What else to know: Since April, the Office of Health Care Affordability (OHCA) has been convening a workgroup to obtain stakeholder input on how hospital spending growth will be measured against the spending target.
Hospital Fee Program Invoices Due Oct. 23
What’s happening: Payments for the 2024 Hospital Fee Program, fee-for-service payment cycle 6, are due to the Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) on Oct. 23.
What else to know: Invoices were mailed to hospitals from DHCS on Sept. 23.
Ask Reps. to Sign Letter Opposing 340B Program Changes
What’s happening: A bipartisan group of U.S. representatives is leading a letter to U.S. Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Xavier Becerra about efforts by Johnson & Johnson (J&J) to undermine the 340B Drug Discount Program.
What else to know: Hospital leaders should call or email their U.S. representative and urge them to sign on to the letter by Sept. 27.
Summary of FFY 2025 IPPS Final Rule Includes Details on New Accountability Model
What’s happening: CHA has issued a detailed summary of the federal fiscal year (FFY) 2025 inpatient prospective payment system final rule.
What else to know: The summary includes information on the new Transforming Episode Accountability Model (TEAM) that will be mandatory for more than 130 California hospitals across 10 geographic areas.
Hospital Volunteers from Across the State Convene in San Diego
What’s happening: The 2024 California Hospital Volunteer Leadership Conference was held Sept. 16-17 in San Diego. More than 150 people attended, including volunteers, volunteer leaders, paid volunteer leaders, community partners, and others.
What else to know: Sessions focused on support and best practices for hospital volunteer programs, collecting metrics to tell the story of hospital volunteers, and the unique skills and benefits volunteers bring to health care teams.
HQI and Hospital Council Annual Conference to Focus on Artificial Intelligence
What’s happening: The Hospital Quality Institute (HQI) and Hospital Council will host a joint 2024 Annual Conference Oct. 20-21 in Lake Tahoe.

CHA DataSuite Releases Four Quality Analyses
What’s happening: CHA DataSuite released four hospital-specific analyses for inpatient and outpatient quality measure trends, value-based purchasing (VBP), and the hospital-acquired condition (HAC) reduction program.
What else to know: The analyses are intended to provide hospitals a preview of the program’s potential impact for federal fiscal year (FFY) 2025, based on the most recent publicly available data and program rules established by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
