CMS Announces Coverage, Payment Policies for COVID-19 Monoclonal Antibody Therapies
Following the approval by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) of emergency use authorization for the investigational monoclonal antibody therapy, bamlanivimab, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced it will cover monoclonal antibody therapies, with no beneficiary cost-sharing for the duration of the COVID-19 public health emergency.

CMS Finalizes 2018 Proposed Rule for Medicaid Managed Care and CHIP
Earlier today, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) issued a final rule that revises Medicaid Managed Care and Children’s Health Insurance Program regulations intended to reduce state administrative burden and increase program flexibility. CHA provided written comments on CMS’ proposed rule in January 2019.
Updated COVID-19 Infection Control Guidance Released by CDC
On Nov. 4, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued updated infection control guidance for the COVID-19 pandemic. It provides additional options for screening employees and visitors for COVID-19 – including implementing a system for employees to take their temperature prior to arrival at the facility and report the absence of fever and other COVID-19 symptoms electronically.
Biden Announces COVID-19 Task Force
President-elect Joe Biden has announced a COVID-19 advisory board, underscoring that his administration’s priority will be controlling the COVID-19 pandemic. The task force, which includes three Californians, will advise the incoming Biden administration as it prepares to orchestrate a federal response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

CHA has issued a detailed summary, prepared by Health Policy Alternatives, of the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) interim final rule with comment period that extends the compliance deadline for provider information blocking requirements from Nov. 2, 2020, to April 5, 2021.
