CDPH Releases Proposed Hospital License Fees

The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) has released its Annual Fee Report for Fiscal Year 2020-21. It proposes an increase for hospitals from $661 to $846 per bed statewide and an increase from $861 to $1,002 per bed in Los Angeles County.

125 Hospitals Join New Perinatal Mental Health Learning Community

Hospitals that have not yet signed up for the Hospital Quality Institute’s (HQI) Perinatal Mental Health (PMH) Learning Community are encouraged to join their colleagues from throughout the state. 125 hospitals have already joined the community, a free two-year program aimed at strengthening hospital approaches to mental health during the perinatal period.

CHA DataSuite has released three hospital-specific reports. The first two offer specific analyses for federal fiscal year (FFY) 2021 of the Hospital-Acquired Condition (HAC) Reduction Program and the Value-Based Purchasing (VBP) Program. These analyses are intended to provide hospitals a preview of the program’s potential impact, based on publicly available data and rules established by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). The third report is an overview of the FFYs 2018-2020 Medicare quality programs.

DHCS Funding Available for Behavioral Health Counselors in Hospital EDs

The California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) is now accepting applications for its Behavioral Health Pilot Project (BHPP). General acute care hospitals are eligible to receive $50,000 for one year to integrate trained behavioral health counselors into emergency departments.

CMS Proposes Modifications, Extension of Joint Replacement Model

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has issued a proposed rule that would make changes to the Comprehensive Care for Joint Replacement (CJR) Model and extend the demonstration for an additional three years through 2023 for mandatory model participants. Comments on the proposed rule will be due in late April.
