Minimum Wage Bill Would Devastate Health Care in California

Following narrow Senate passage last month, a bill that would raise the minimum wage for all health care workers in all settings in California to $21 in 2024 and $25 in 2025 is now making its way through the Assembly. The minimum wage would also increase annually by 3.5% or the Consumer Price Index, whichever is lesser.

HHS Issues Information Blocking Penalty Final Rule

The Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) has issued its final rule on the enforcement of information blocking penalties for health information technology developers and health information exchanges and networks. A second proposed rule establishing information blocking disincentives for providers is expected in early fall.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has issued a proposed rule updating payment rates and policies for information under the end-stage renal disease (ESRD) prospective payment system for renal dialysis services furnished to Medicare beneficiaries for calendar year (CY) 2024. Comments are due to CMS by 2 p.m. (PT) on Aug. 25.
