What’s happening: In response to President Donald Trump’s February executive order on price transparency, the departments of Labor, Health and Human Services, and Treasury, as well as the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, have issued new guidance and requests for information (RFIs) on machine-readable files, prescription drug pricing, and more.
What else to know: Feedback on the RFIs listed below is due later this summer.
New Guidance:
- CMS’ Hospital Price Transparency Requirements include new guidance on calculating the estimated allowed amount values in hospital machine-readable files.
- The U.S. Department of Labor’s New FAQ Guidance for Insurers regarding transparency in coverage requirements announces that a new standard format for insurers’ machine-readable files will be released Oct. 1.
RFIs:
- Comments on CMS’ Hospital Compliance and Enforcement of Price Transparency Rules are due July 21.
- Comments on the joint Prescription Drug Price Transparency request are due 30 days from publication in the Federal Register.
