The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has released three voluntary sample formats that hospitals can use to meet federal rules requiring certain standard charges be publicly available through a machine-readable file.
The sample files are available in tall, wide, and plain format. CMS also posted a sample data dictionary for the wide and tall formats.
