CHA has issued a comprehensive summary of the federal fiscal year (FFY) 2023 inpatient prospective payment system proposed rule released by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). Comments on the proposed rule are due to CMS by 2 p.m. (PT) on June 17.

The summary details the proposed payment updates, changes to the inpatient quality reporting and performance-based quality programs, and several requests for information on issues ranging from climate change to health equity and payment adjustments for N95 respirator masks. In addition, the summary covers the proposed changes to graduate medical education payments, the area wage index, and how section 1115 waiver days are counted for purposes of the Medicare disproportionate share adjustment.

CHA will hold a complimentary, members-only webinar at noon (PT) on May 25 to discuss the proposals and their potential impacts. Register to learn more about these policies and provide input for CHA’s comments.
