CDPH Launches Online Application for Acute Care and Psychiatric Hospitals, per CHA-Sponsored Legislation

For COOs, licensing & certification staff

As a result of CHA’s sponsored legislation, Assembly Bill 2798 (Maienschein, 2018), the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) has launched an online portal for licensure applications for general acute care and acute psychiatric hospitals. All Facilities Letter 19-41 provides instructions and resource materials for registering and using the new online portal.

The portal allows providers to electronically submit initial, change of ownership, and report of change applications, as well as to validate their facility information and view their application status. CDPH encourages providers to begin using the online system for these application types, as the CDPH Center for Health Care Quality Central Applications Branch plans to phase out the use of paper applications by July 1.
