“Men’s and nations’ finest hour consist of those moments when extraordinary challenge is met by extraordinary response.”   — Neal A. Maxwell

As the days and nights have blended together over the past two weeks during the growing coronavirus threat, there’s one thought that continues to rise in my mind.

It’s this: How fortunate; how very fortunate we are to have the dedication of our teammates during this uncertain time.

Only a few airports nationwide are receiving flights from China, and two of them are in California. We’re also one of three states (along with Texas and Nebraska) housing people returning from China at military bases. The state has already confirmed six people with the virus, with more under surveillance and testing.

CEO Message: Hospitals Do Not Look Away

Every day, a small army of women and men rise to meet the needs of the tens of thousands of Californians — many of them children, seniors, veterans, or those experiencing mental health and substance use disorders — who live on the streets of our cities and towns.

Our hospital association — and I’d like to emphasize “our” here because it’s you, our members, who drive all we do — exists for one reason: to support your mission of care in California.
