Workplace Violence Prevention: Keeping Our Patients and Staff Safe

Hospital staff are reporting an increase in the frequency of violent acts in the emergency department, inpatient and outpatient settings. Increased community discord, stressed patients and their families, employee burnout after 20 months of the unprecedented COVID-19 public health emergency — all factors that may be contributing to a heightened incidence of violence in the workplace. Now, hospital and health system leaders are looking for resources to assist in providing a safer environment for staff and patients.

CHA is hosting a members-only webinar on December 15 that will review Cal/OSHA Workplace Violence Mitigation plan requirements. They will also discuss the American Hospital Association Hospitals Against Violence Initiative, featuring the Creating Safer Workplaces guide.
