CHA is hosting the 2023 Behavioral Health Care Symposium in Sacramento from Dec. 12-13. The symposium will dive into the public policies, politics, and financial issues shaping behavioral health care in California.
The 2023 keynote speaker will be Sen. Susan Talamantes Eggman, (D-Stockton), chair of the Senate Health Committee and a leader on behavioral health in the Legislature.
Sen. Eggman is the author of Senate Bill (SB) 43 (which significantly updates California’s conservatorship laws) and SB 526 (legislation modernizing the Mental Health Services Act) and is also the joint author of SB 1338 (which created Community Assistance, Recovery, and Empowerment Court).
Dr. Eggman earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from California State University (CSU), Stanislaus and a master’s degree in social work. She worked as a mental health provider and medical social worker before completing a PhD from Portland State University. Prior to joining the State Assembly, she was a Professor of Social Work at CSU, Sacramento. She passed the Licensed Clinical Social Worker examination shortly after assuming office.
