What’s happening: The Emergency Medical Services Authority (EMSA) will host a hospitals-only webinar on June 24 from 8-9:30 a.m. (PT) to share more information about its new “APOT Audit Tool” and solicit feedback.
New for 2022, The HQI Annual Conference is coming to locations in both Northern and Southern California! The internationally renowned patient safety experts and keynotes will be riveting regardless of where you see them, and the tracks on general patient safety, joy in practice, applied data, and health equity will be the same in both places – simply choose which location is best for you.
What’s happening: Beginning July 1, hospitals must include specific language on any document that indicates the patient agrees to pay the hospital’s bill, per Senate Bill (SB) 1061 (2024). Failure to include the required language means the hospital cannot enforce the debt.

2022 Disaster Conference
The National Disaster Medical System (NDMS) Pilot Program identifies opportunities to enhance partnerships between military and civilian health care systems to improve military-civilian interoperability and medical surge capabilities and capacity to care for combat casualties repatriated to the United States. This session provides an overview of the pilot program and activities completed to date, highlights medical surge readiness, and identifies opportunities for improvement in the Sacramento region based on stakeholder feedback.

What’s happening: The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) released a Health Advisory on June 11 recommending that, as the 2024-25 flu season ends, health care providers continue testing for influenza throughout the summer — particularly in patients with respiratory illness, conjunctivitis, or avian influenza A (H5N1) exposure risk factors.
