This post has been archived and contains information that may be out of date.

What’s happening: Dec. 8 is the deadline for hospitals to sign up for a CHA-supported legal challenge to Medicare’s low-wage index policy.

What else to know: An updated analysis increases the estimated impact of these policies on California hospitals from $26 million to $33 million in federal fiscal year (FFY) 2024.

CHA reminds members participating in CHA’s legal challenge to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services area wage index policies to return signed engagement letters to Hooper, Lundy & Bookman by Dec. 8. CHA’s continued litigation challenges a policy that sets a dangerous precedent of increasing payments to some hospitals by decreasing payments to others. The policy is estimated to reduce payments to California hospitals by $33 million in FFY 2024. Participating hospitals have been contacted by Hooper, Lundy & Bookman.
