Rep. Doris Matsui, along with three congressional colleagues, submitted a letter earlier this week to White House COVID-19 Response Team Coordinator Jeffrey Zients inquiring about the extreme prices being reported for nurse staffing agencies in some states, including California.

The letter expresses concern that certain staffing agencies may be taking advantage of the pandemic to increase profits at the expense of patients and the hospitals that treat them. It urges the White House coordinator to ensure that this matter gets the attention it merits from the federal government.

CHA thanks Rep. Matsui for protecting patients and working to prevent conduct that exacerbates the shortage of nurses that continues to strain the health care system.
