CHA is currently offering numerous webinars to help members understand ever-changing regulations and their obligations as health care providers. Upcoming webinar topics include:

Pandemic Crisis Care Guidelines

COVID-19 is challenging America’s health care providers in ways we never imagined. To support them in making difficult decisions during times of scarce medical resources, California’s health care leadership has been developing guidance that will help frontline health care workers make some of the hardest decisions of their lives.

The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) recently released the California SARS-CoV-2 Pandemic Crisis Care Guidelines. In this complimentary, members-only webinar, senior leadership from CDPH will present a review of the new guidance, insights into its development, and explain how it can inform real-time clinical decisions.

Topics include:

  • Developing, updating your Emergency Operations Plan
  • Key operational strategies for health care facilities during crisis, including identifying and incorporating indicators and triggers
  • Core strategies to employ in anticipation of a shortage of space, supplies, staff
  • Developing and implementing critical policies and plans, including staff engagement and education
  • Principles and processes for allocating scarce resources, including ventilator management, and strategies for other scarce resources situations
  • Ensuring equity and nondiscrimination in resource allocation and other ethics issues
  • Resources and checklists

The webinar will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. (PT) on June 23. Click here for more information and to register.

What to Expect When TJC Surveys Resume

In March, The Joint Commission (TJC) suspended all surveys due to COVID-19. That has changed as the curve flattens and the state and counties begin to reopen. As of June 1, TJC has resumed reaccreditation surveys nationally, including hospitals in some California counties.

Join us for this complimentary, members-only webinar to learn about the criteria that TJC will use to assess whether to survey your hospital. And if your hospital is in a county that meets those criteria, this webinar will prepare you for TJC’s pre-survey outreach and for the day TJC arrives to survey.

The webinar will be held from 9 to 10:30 a.m. (PT) on June 30. Click here for more information and to register.

Provider Relief Fund Challenges and Risk Mitigation

CHA will host a members-only webinar June 29 to discuss the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) Provider Relief Program and potential pitfalls that could cost hospitals dearly.

HHS guidance on the program changes frequently, often without notice, and available funds can come with complicated qualifying and accounting rules. Keeping up with program details amid today’s distractions is tough enough and there are potentially devastating consequences for mistakes or compliance failures.

Experts from Hooper, Lundy & Bookman, PC will discuss the biggest compliance risks and how to mitigate them, including the most problematic terms of conditions, False Claims Act implications, and how and when do you give money back.
