In a recent comment letter, CHA commended the National Quality Forum (NQF) on improvements to its draft standards for serious reportable events; however, CHA also expressed serious concerns about the lack of specificity of some of the measure definitions.
The NQF report is updated every four years and sets national standards for data collection and public reporting of serious reportable events.
After reviewing comments, NQF will release a revised report before the end of January, and NQF members, including CHA, will vote on the report.

Led by Rep. Dennis Cardoza (D-CA), 14 members of the California Democratic congressional delegation sent a letter this week to President Obama urging the administration to alter its proposed inpatient prospective payment system (IPPS) rule, which would decrease Medicare hospital payments by as much as $300 million in California for fiscal year (FY) 2011.
