CHA DataSuite has issued a hospital-specific analysis of the Medicare hospital wage index average hourly wage criteria. The analysis allows hospitals to test their potential ability to achieve a federal fiscal year (FFY) 2022 Medicare hospital wage index reclassification. Applications for FFY 2022 hospital wage index reclassifications are due to the Medicare Geographic Classification Review Board by Sept. 1.

DHCS Issues Self-Audit Demand of 340B Providers

Last month, the Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) sent a letter to every 340B provider/covered entity (hospitals, clinics, and contracted pharmacies) demanding they conduct a self-audit of paid fee-for-service (FFS) claims data from Dec. 1, 2016, through Dec. 31, 2019. The stated purpose of the self-audit is to ensure the provider billed appropriately in the FFS delivery system at the actual acquisition cost and to disclose any overpayment.

CHA DataSuite is pleased to announce the release of Information Builders (IB), a new web-based business intelligence platform that will house future DataSuite reports. One of the advantages of this web-based platform is that IB allows enhanced visualizations and interactive reports for hospitals. CMS Revises Guidance on Add-on Payment for COVID-19 Patients

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has revised its guidance on the add-on payment for COVID-19 patients. The guidance states that effective with admissions occurring on or after Sept. 1, claims eligible for the 20% increase in the Medicare Severity-Diagnosis Related Group weighting factor for cases with a COVID-19 diagnosis will also be required to have a positive COVID-19 laboratory test documented in the patient’s medical record.
