Hospital Fee Program Invoices Due Aug. 28
What’s happening: Payments for the 2022 Hospital Fee Program, managed care July-December directed payment cycle, are due to the Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) on Aug. 28.
What else to know: DHCS mailed invoices to hospitals in July. CHA encourages those at risk of not paying their invoices in full by Aug. 28 to notify DHCS in advance of the due date about any financial hardship.
Virtual Training Program to Focus on Leadership Skills Development
What’s happening: The Hospital Association of Southern California (HASC) is offering an intensive virtual class beginning in September. LEAD Academy is for new health care managers, or those who want to refresh their leadership skills.
What else to know: LEAD Academy courses take place over 12 Thursdays, Sept. 5 to Nov. 21. Registration is open.
State Medicaid Agencies Can Apply for CMS Grant by Sept. 20
What’s happening: The California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) is preparing to apply for a federal grant related to the Transforming Maternal Health (TMaH) model, which is projected to run for 10 years.
What else to know: The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is accepting applications through Sept. 20. DHCS is planning to apply, with its pilot plan operating in Madera, Fresno, Kings, Tulare, and Kern counties.
New HCAI Advisory Guide Available on Design Document Preparation
What’s happening: The Department of Health Care Access and Information’s (HCAI) Office of Statewide Hospital Planning and Development (OSHPD) recently released a new advisory guide for sitework under its jurisdiction.
What else to know: The advisory guide includes tips on preparing design documents and provides examples, methods, and approaches that have been successfully used on various projects.
HCAI Issues Updated Building Code Application Notice
What’s happening: The Department of Health Care Access and Information’s (HCAI) Office of Statewide Hospital Planning and Development (OSHPD) recently revised the Code Application Notice (CAN 2-0) OSHPD Jurisdiction.
What else to know: CAN 2-0 explains how OSHPD is designated as the enforcing agency for hospital buildings and skilled-nursing facilities, and identifies the local building department as the enforcing agency for clinics and certain chemical dependency recovery hospitals.
CHA Issues Summary of FFY 2025 LTCH PPS Final Rule
What’s happening: CHA has issued a summary of the finalized payment updates and policies for long-term care hospitals (LTCHs) for federal fiscal year (FFY) 2025.
What else to know: The policy and payment provisions are generally effective for FFY 2025 discharges, beginning Oct. 1.
CHA DataSuite Releases FFY 2025 Medicare Inpatient Prospective Payment System Final Rule Analysis
What’s happening: CHA DataSuite issued a hospital-specific analysis of the federal fiscal year (FFY) 2025 Medicare inpatient prospective payment system final rule.
What else to know: The analysis is intended to show hospitals how Medicare fee-for-service payments would change from FFY 2024 to FFY 2025 based on the policies set forth in the final rule.
CDPH Title 22 Draft Regulations Out for Public Comment
What’s happening: The comment period is now open for draft regulations released by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) on clinical laboratory, pharmaceutical, and dietetic services in general acute care hospitals.
What else to know: Comments are due to CDPH on Sept. 12.
New CMS Requirements for Reporting of Hospital Respiratory Data to NHSN
What’s happening: Beginning on Nov. 1, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) will require acute care hospitals and critical access hospitals to electronically report information via the National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) about COVID-19, influenza, and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV).
What else to know: CMS will also require hospitals to provide a weekly snapshot of hospitalizations, admissions, bed capacity and occupancy, and weekly totals for new admissions for COVID-19, influenza, and RSV to provide situational awareness of the impact of these respiratory diseases.
