The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services will hold a national stakeholder call on July 12 at 10 a.m. (PT) to discuss the agency’s policy with respect to hospitals, staff, and physicians regarding their obligations and protections under the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA). Registration is required.

This call follows President Biden’s July 8 executive order on access to reproductive health care services. In the order, President Biden directed the Secretary of Health and Human Services to take action, including efforts to ensure emergency medical care, by considering updates to current guidance that clarifies physician responsibilities and protections under EMTALA.
