Mia Bonta Leads in Runoff Election for Vacant Assembly Seat

Mia Bonta (D) is currently leading with 55% of the vote in the special election runoff for Assembly District 18, the seat formerly held by Attorney General Rob Bonta.  

The California Hospital Association Political Action Committee (CHPAC) supported Mia Bonta, who is president of the Alameda Unified School District board, CEO of the nonprofit Oakland Promise, and spouse of Rob Bonta. Janani Ramachandran (D), a social justice attorney, has 45% of the vote. This Alameda County district encompasses the cities of San Leandro, Alameda, and most of Oakland.  

Election officials have until Oct. 6 to certify the election.
