What’s happening: House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) have formed a new bipartisan task force focused on artificial intelligence.
What else to know: Several of the task force members are actively involved in health care policy.
The 12-member task force includes several members of the California congressional delegation:
- Rep. Jay Obernolte (R-CA-23): Task force Chair
- Rep. Ted Lieu (D-CA-36): Task force Co-chair
- Rep. Anna Eshoo (D-CA-16): Ranking member of the Energy and Commerce Committee’s Health Subcommittee
- Rep. Michelle Steel (R-CA-45): Member of the Ways and Means Committee’s Health Subcommittee
- Rep. Ami Bera (D-CA-6)
- Rep. Sara Jacobs (D-CA-51)
- Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA-48)
The group will produce a comprehensive report with bipartisan policy proposals developed in consultation with relevant committees. The report is expected later this year.
