Hospitals Should Review New Requirements for Hospital Presumptive Eligibility Application Portal

This post has been archived and contains information that may be out of date.

Later this year, the Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) will modify access to the Hospital Presumptive Eligibility (HPE) Application Portal. Providers who have not yet updated their HPE user information should do so to ensure they do not lose access to the portal.

DHCS asks that providers ensure they :

  • Register properly on the Medi-Cal Learning Portal with a user type of either “Healthcare Provider,” defined as a Medi-Cal provider with a valid national provider identifier (NPI), or “Provider Staff,” defined as anyone working in the provider’s office with access to the provider NPI
  • Successfully complete the HPE Provider/Employee Computer Based Training
  • Have a valid NPI and PIN

For detailed instructions, visit the DHCS website.
