HCAI to Host Webinar on Seismic Reports That Are Due This Year

This post has been archived and contains information that may be out of date.

The Department of Health Care Access and Information (HCAI) will hold a webinar on June 20 from 9 a.m. to noon (PT) that will cover two reports on the 2030 seismic requirements that hospitals must submit by the end of this year.

These reports are:

  • A plan for how hospitals will meet Nonstructural Performance Category (NPC) requirements. State regulations require this to be submitted to HCAI by Jan. 1, 2024.
  • A report on the Structural Performance Category status and services in buildings on hospital campuses. State law — in accordance with Assembly Bill 1882 (Rivas), which was enacted last year — requires this to be submitted to HCAI and other entities by Jan. 1, 2024, and annually thereafter.

In case you missed it, HCAI previously released an Advisory Guide on the NPC requirements. It has also released Policy Intent Notice (PIN) 75 on the AB 1882 requirements; a revised final version to this is expected by the end of June.

In addition to these reports, AB 1882 requires hospitals to post new signage by the end of the year. This will also be addressed in PIN 75 and on the webinar.
