HCAI Distributing Stakeholder Survey on Supplier Diversity

For COOs, supplier diversity managers

On April 5, the Hospital Supplier Diversity Commission, which is required under California’s Health and Safety Code Section 1339.85, will meet to finalize draft recommendations for the hospital industry on the best way to increase supplier diversity.

With that in mind, the Department of Health Care Access and Information (HCAI) has developed a stakeholder survey, which provides hospitals with the opportunity to inform the feasibility of draft recommendations that the commission will consider at its April 5 meeting. Hospital supplier diversity managers identified in their hospital’s July 1, 2021, report to HCAI will receive the survey on Feb. 18.

The health and safety code requires hospitals, with operating expenses over a specified amount, to annually submit a report to HCAI on their minority, women, LGBT, and disabled veteran business enterprise procurement efforts. The commission’s role is to advise and provide recommendations to the HCAI director and the hospital industry on the best methods to increase procurement with diverse suppliers within the hospital industry.
