The Trump administration’s “public charge” final rule could significantly impact hospitals’ relationships with patients and the communities they serve. To help hospital staff better understand the rule, CHA will hold a members-only forum, “Public Charge Final Rule: How to Communicate with Patients,” Sept. 12 from 1-3 p.m. (PT).

The webinar will:

  • Provide an overview of the public charge final rule
  • Discuss the impact to the patients and communities that hospitals serve
  • Help hospitals communicate with patients about the rule, including when and how to refer patients to immigration experts who can advise on the patient’s particular situation

Under the final rule, scheduled to take effect Oct. 15, the federal government can deny immigrants U.S. entry or adjust their legal permanent resident status if they are determined likely to become public charges. The rule also jeopardizes the well being of those who have legally immigrated to this county, spurring concerns that households may be fearful to seek or delay needed health care until their conditions worsen.

There is no fee for the CHA members-only webinar; however, registration is required. Register today.
