Fortunate Timing Aids Lung Cancer Treatment

A former City of Hope nursing student turned to City of Hope experts for breakthrough lung cancer treatment 40 years later.

Landing page: After decades of smoking, former nurse Cece Nudelman quit when she turned 60. Several years later, a routine scan revealed lung cancer. The treatments that followed couldn’t have been timed better.

“Most people who smoke start when they’re young,” surgeon Jae Kim, MD said. “To blame someone in their sixties for decisions made when they were 15 — that’s not fair. We have to erase that stigma.”
