Division of Occupational Safety and Health Issues Monkeypox Guidance

This post has been archived and contains information that may be out of date.

In response to both the state and federal declaration of emergency due to monkeypox (MPX), the Division of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) has issued guidance on how MPX is addressed by the Aerosol Transmissible Disease (ATD) standard.

While the guidance covers multiple industries, it includes explicit guidance for hospitals and outpatient clinical settings. In particular, the DOSH guidance notes the importance of utilizing airborne isolation rooms when performing intubation, extubation, or other procedures that are likely to spread respiratory or oral fluids, droplets, or particles.

CHA will provide any additional guidance or further information on MPX, occupational safety, and MPX exposure protections through CHA News.
