Clarification on COVID-19 Tests Allocated by State

For COOs, infection prevention staff, employee health staff, human resources staff, legal counsel

A Feb. 10 CHA News article noted that the state — via the California Coronavirus Testing Task Force — had allocated 300,000 COVID-19 tests for hospitals, but while the tests were sent directly to the Medical Health Operational Area Coordinators (MHOACs) for each local health jurisdiction based on number of hospital beds, these tests are only available for use specifically by infected hospital workers.

All facilities receiving these antigen tests must have individuals pre-register the test at the time of pickup and then report the results at the time of testing. Hospitals can reach out to their local MHOAC to request these tests.
