Civil Rights Department Releases Templates for Pay Reports

This post has been archived and contains information that may be out of date.

In response to a newly enacted law, the California Civil Rights Department (formerly the Department of Fair Employment and Housing) has issued FAQs and templates to help employers create pay reports.

Senate Bill 1162, which expands existing pay reporting, requires employers to include pay information for employees hired through labor contractors. Employers must also include the median and mean hourly rate for each job category, sorted by race, ethnicity, and sex.

The pay information must be reported to the Civil Rights Department by May 10, 2023.

The department also plans to issue additional templates next month on reporting pay data for contractors.

CHA encourages its members to closely review the templates and FAQs.
