For pharmacy managers

The Department of Justice will implement two important changes to the Controlled Substance Utilization Review and Evaluation System (CURES), effective April 2022.

First, CURES users will no longer be able to access the web application via Internet Explorer due to application and data security concerns (Microsoft recently announced it will no longer support Internet Explorer in the next year). CURES users should transition to using the current versions of the following web browsers: Chrome (Google), Edge (Microsoft), Firefox (Mozilla), and Safari (Apple).

The state Department of Justice recommends users make the transition well ahead of the April 2022 deadline to avoid disruption to CURES access. For those who are already accessing CURES on one of the supported web browsers, no action is necessary.

Second, an optimized CURES will be released in April 2022 and will include updates for improved user interface, including functionality mandated through recent legislation. Additional information about these changes will be provided in the coming months.

Contact the CURES Program at cures@doj.ca.gov with any questions.
