CHA Unveils Appellate Advocacy Tracker

This post has been archived and contains information that may be out of date.

What’s happening: CHA has released an appellate advocacy tracker that reports CHA’s amicus efforts to provide courts with important factual context and legal analysis, highlighting the ramifications of legal issues for hospitals.

What else to know: The tracker contains both the links to the amicus documents that CHA files and the outcome of these efforts.

Along with legislative and regulatory advocacy, CHA protects and advances members’ interests through the judicial system by filing amicus (“friend of the court”) briefs in federal and state appellate cases presenting issues broadly significant to hospitals and health systems. These appellate cases may result in published decisions that can be used as precedent in other cases.

Cases seeking CHA’s amicus involvement come to our attention through members, lawyers for one of the parties to the case (often a member hospital or health system), or other lawyers monitoring cases that may have an impact on hospitals.
