What’s happening: In a June 30 letter to the California congressional delegation, CHA urges members to cosponsor and support the Preserving Emergency Access in Key Sites (PEAKS) Act (S. 1960/H.R. 3778).
What else to know: The PEAKS Act would strengthen reimbursement for ambulance services owned by critical access hospitals (CAHs), create payment parity among CAHs in different geographic areas, and make certain that CAHs would retain their designation even if a new hospital was built within 15 miles.
Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-CA-18) and Sen. Alex Padilla are already cosponsors.
