CHA is seeking the extension — until June 30 — of the Emergency Medical Services Authority (EMSA) and California Department of Public Health (CDPH) COVID-19 waivers set to expire on March 31.

Hospitals remain very full and continue to experience staffing shortages, making these flexibilities critical to maintaining the current health care capacity in California. Specifically, these waivers are set to expire on March 31:

Both waivers will need an executive order to be issued by the governor’s office to update the most recent executive order provisions that otherwise will expire. CHA is advocating for these executive order provisions, and corresponding EMSA and CDPH waivers, to be renewed as soon as possible.
