CHA Issues Template Letter for Members on Proposed Medicaid Fiscal Accountability Regulation

For CEOs, government relations executives

CHA has prepared a template letter for members to use in responding to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS) Medicaid fiscal accountability proposed rule. If finalized, the policies outlined in the proposed rule would significantly change Medicaid financing, resulting in decreased coverage and access to care for Medi-Cal beneficiaries.

Because input on the proposed rule is extremely important, CHA strongly encourages members to use the template letter as a guide in crafting their responses to CMS, supporting several issues also outlined in CHA’s draft comments.

The template includes sample questions for members to consider so that the letters may be customized and clearly articulate the devastating effect the proposed rule would have on each hospitals’ patients. CHA has also provided a table that includes the percentage of Medi-Cal enrollment by county for reference and inclusion in the letter.

Comments are due by 2 p.m. (PT) on Feb. 1, but members should submit letters by Friday, Jan. 31. To submit comments, go to www.regulations.gov and search “CMS-2393-P.”
