CHA DataSuite Releases Analysis of FFY 2024 Wage Index and Occupational Mix Data

CHA DataSuite has issued a hospital-specific analysis – designed in the Business Intelligence platform – of the Medicare hospital federal fiscal year (FFY) 2024 wage index and occupational mix data.

The revised data are the second of three wage and occupational mix data public use files (PUFs) that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) issued to develop the hospital wage index for FFY 2024.

It is extremely important that hospitals review these wage data. Under CMS’ hospital wage index development timetable, hospitals have until Feb. 15 to submit corrections or revisions. Corrections are for errors in the January PUFs due to data mishandling by CMS or Medicare Administrative Contractors (MACs). Revisions are for desk review adjustments to wage index data as included in the PUFs.

As this is the second release, there is not enough time for MACs to process new data, and no new data requests will be addressed. Requests and supporting documentation for revision requests must be submitted to the hospital’s MAC.

The final 2019 wage data and occupational mix data used to calculate the FFY 2023 wage index are included in this analysis for informational purposes. Percent change is not calculated for these data in this analysis.
