CHA Continues Advocacy for Hospitals on New PPE Stockpile Law

For CEOs, government relations executives

This post has been archived and contains information that may be out of date.

CHA recognizes that with the Jan. 15, 2021, reporting requirement for Assembly Bill 2537 and its April 1, 2021, personal protective equipment (PPE) stockpile deadlines right around the corner, hospitals are struggling with how to meet the new law’s obligations. Following is an update on CHA’s advocacy efforts with Cal/OSHA, which began shortly after the bill was signed.

In addition to explaining the ongoing supply chain challenges, CHA is also discussing the following issues:

  • How to meet the reporting obligation when hospitals do not have 2019 PPE consumption data
  • How to calculate 90 days of “normal consumption” for purposes of the stockpile requirement
  • Where and how the stockpile may be maintained

CHA appreciates that hospitals urgently need this information in order to begin compliance activity. As soon as more detailed information is available, it will be shared.
