This week, CHA launched a four-week Twitter campaign designed to reiterate the economic impact of COVID-19 on hospitals.

The campaign points out the losses incurred due to the pandemic and the rough road that lies ahead. Sample tweets, which link to the most recent Kaufman Hall report, include:

  • Throughout the pandemic, California’s hospitals have been here for our communities. With more than 2/3 of hospitals struggling to break even, recovery from more than $14 billion in losses won’t be easy, but it’s vital for the people who rely on us.
  • As California begins its COVID-19 recovery, hospitals are faced with difficult decisions due to the crippling financial hits they’ve endured in the past 18 months.
  • The hit to California’s hospitals from the pandemic was massive, and federal relief made up just half of financial losses, with no additional federal help in sight. The road ahead will be tough to ensure hospitals can always be there for all Californians’ needs.
