CDPH Updates Requirements for Visitors to Health Care Facilities

This post has been archived and contains information that may be out of date.

After CHA and hospitals began inquiring about visitation to hospitals, on Sept. 15, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) issued a state public health order that changes the requirements for visitors to health care facilities.

Effective Sept. 17, visitors to health care facilities such as skilled-nursing facilities and general acute care hospitals will no longer be required to be tested or show proof of vaccination to visit loved ones. CDPH notes that visitors must continue to comply with CDPH masking guidance while visiting loved ones indoors in these settings.

In case you missed last week’s CHA News article, CDPH announced that it was ending weekly COVID-19 testing for unvaccinated employees. But CHA reminds members that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services requires hospitals to implement a policy to ensure that unvaccinated staff adheres to precautions intended to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.
