What’s happening: The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) released All Facilities Letter (AFL) 25-16 on April 29, announcing the beginning of its regulatory process for establishing nurse-to-patient ratios in acute psychiatric hospitals.
What else to know: CDPH also announced its plans to obtain stakeholder input and provided a list of six questions on which it is seeking information.
This work stems from recent San Francisco Chronicle stories alleging adverse incidents in psychiatric hospitals. CDPH will host a webinar on May 13 from 11 a.m. to noon (PT) to solicit stakeholder feedback.
