As a result of CHA’s sponsored legislation, Assembly Bill 2798 (Maienschein, 2018), the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) has created an online portal for hospital submission of licensure applications.

In All-Facilities Letter 19-39, CDPH announces that its Center for Health Care Quality’s Licensing and Certification Program Central Applications Branch online application for acute care hospitals and acute psychiatric hospitals will launch Dec. 23.

Hospitals can begin to request access for the users who will submit applications on behalf of their facilities through CDPH’s new GACH/APH Online Application User Information Survey page. To begin using the online application on its Dec. 23 launch date, hospitals must request access by Dec. 16.

CHA will continue to work with CDPH on the roll-out of this new online application and will provide more information to members as it becomes available. CDPH has announced that online application for other facility types it regulates (e.g., skilled-nursing facilities) will be available in the future.
